Cullen Lattin 5 – 2 Clonmel Town

Cullen Lattin made it two wins from two as they stand top of the Division One table after the first rounds of games, courtesy of a good win against Clonmel Town’s seconds on Sunday.
Aisling Park was looking splendid on a sunny Sunday morning, and the home side got into their groove right from the start, opening the scoring in the opening minutes when Tristan Stokes crossed for Fiachra O’Grady to knock a pass into the onrushing Mikey Stokes who made no mistake from close in. Tony O’Neill put the hosts two up shortly after, when Stokes became the provider, as the visiting defence was run ragged.
Cullen made it 3-0 midway through the half, when Fiachra O’Grady took a brilliant pass from Paddy Down, and shot past the visiting goal keeper.
Clonmel Town were down, but not out just yet, and they got back into the game ten minutes before the break when a well struck Darragh Walsh free kick was saved by Bob Doyle in the Cullen goal, but Paul Shanahan was on hand to tap home the rebound.
Cullen restored their three-goal advantage at the break when the livewire O’Grady found Tommy O’Mahoney in space, and he made no mistake from ten yards out.
Midway through the second period, the away side were given lifeline when another well struck Darragh Walsh free kick went into the bottom corner of the home goal. But Tony O’Neill secured all three points for Cullen, when he got into a Darren Heuston through ball, and he finished excellently ten minutes from the end.
