Tipperary Southern and District League champions cruised past Clodiagh Rangers in Sunday's FAI Junior Cup game at Drombane.
FAI Junior Cup (4th Round)
CLODIAGH RANGERS 0 PEAKE VILLA 6
Tipperary Southern & District League champions Peake Villa eased into the fourth round and open draw of this year’s FAI Junior Cup when they made the relatively short trip to Drombane to dispense of North Tipperary League side Clodiagh Rangers on Sunday.
The away side pressured from the start and had some good early chances, but the hosts keeper was in fine form, keeping them at bay in forst quarter of the game. But he could do nothing about the opener when Dale Loughnane played in Pippy Carroll who made no mistake from close in on the 24th minute.
This really allowed the Thurles side to get going and they doubled their lead on the half hour mark when a great ball found Carroll again, and he knocked it down to Eoin O’Dwyer who finished to the net.
O’Dwyer didn't have to wait long to get his second when Kieren Hennessy played him in, and he knocked it past the keeper to make it 3-0 seven minutes before the break.
Villa created some more half chances before the break but did not extend their lead.
The town side kept the pressure on early in the second half and scored again when Dylan Coady got on the score sheet four minutes in.
In the 53rd minute Darragh Byrne added a fifth when scoring at the back post.
Eoin O’Dwyer capped off a fine performance when he secured his hat-trick scoring a sixth ten minutes from time.
This victory sees Villa advance to the open draw where they will face Strand Celtic of the Sligo League.
