Tipperary schools have dominated camogie titles in recent times and a huge game is on the horizon now as two Thurles sides meet in this year’s Munster Senior A schools camogie final.
The Ursuline Secondary school Thurles will play Presentation Secondary school Thurles this Saturday in a mouthwatering final following semi-final victories earlier today.
The Ursuline side, coached by Olivia Hogan, showed great character to win by six points and qualify for back-to-back finals on a 1-12 to 1-06 scoreline over Coachford College in frosty conditions.
The Presentation, coached by Tipperary senior player Cait Devane and Thurles Sarsfields hurler Cian Treacy, had to dig deep to see off a strong challenge from Coláiste Mhuire Ennis.
That game was level at full time with the teams deadlocked on a scoreline of 0-9 to 1-6. The Thurles side produced a strong finish in extra-time to win out 1-10 to 1-8 in the end with Louise Flanagan scoring the vital late goal.
County minor panelists are the mainstay of both sides with players hailing from local clubs such as Moycarkey Borris and Thurles Sarsfields.
The time and venue for the final hasn't been fixed yet but it is certain that Thurles people will flock to the final this Saturday in a much anticipated Thurles derby final.
