Former Tipperary All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Dunne helped Glen Rovers return to the top tier of Cork hurling after defeating Blarney in the Cork Senior A Hurling Championship Final on Sunday.
Relegated from the top tier of Cork hurling for the first time in 97 years last year, Dunne was brought in by manager Tomas Mulcahy to get the fabled Cork club back up at the first time of asking, which they did in a dominant display.
Patrick Horgan’s 2-6 along with sub Lee Quilligan’s 1-1 ensured last year’s runners-up Blarney suffered the same fate once more.
Speaking about Dunne's impact in the lead up to Sunday's final late last week, Dean Brosnan spoke highly of the Toomevara man and what he has brough to the set up in 2024.
"Tommy has been a breath of fresh air," he remarked.
"The standard he wants us to get to is unbelievable. He is at a different level. You can see why he achieved what he achieved in the game with his attitude. It was a great find by Tomás to get Tommy on board.”
