Deputy McGrath says former TD Maire Hoctor should get credit for Nenagh Hospital work

Independent Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has said that any credit for funding Nenagh Hospital’s new surgical day unit should go to former Fianna Fail Junior Minister Maire Hoctor.

Independent Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has said that any credit for funding Nenagh Hospital’s new surgical day unit should go to former Fianna Fail Junior Minister Maire Hoctor.

Minister Kelly opened the unit in June, stating that its funding came from the current Government.

Deputy McGrath, while welcoming the opening of the unit, said: “As far as 2004 the issues surrounding Nenagh Hospital have been cynically used as a front for the Labour Party in its attempt to gain currency on health matters in Tipperary. The funding for this project was secured by Maire Hoctor under the previous Government. It is staggering to continue witnessing the unembarrassed ease with which Minister Kelly is claiming political credit for projects which he has only had limited involvement with at best,” said Deputy McGrath.
