A book covering the history, people and stories of Moyle Rovers Ladies Gaelic Football Club since its foundation in 1993 has been launched.

The book was launched in December at the Halfway House and was published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

A few weeks prior to the launch the ladies senior football team won the county A championship for the first time in the history of the club.

Their victory is marked in Our Journey, the story of Moyle Rovers Ladies Gaelic Football Club, which was compiled by Chairman Paudie Everard and Eamon Lacey.

The book contains articles written about momentous events in the history of the club, highlights the contribution so many people have made to the club since its foundation, and carries an extensive picture gallery of teams who have represented the club over three decades.

50TH ANNIVERSARY
The book contains articles about the people involved in ladies football in Powerstown/Lisronagh parish before the club was formed and also about the influential role of people from Clonmel and the surrounding area in the formation of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association 50 years ago.

The book contains articles on how the local primary schools and secondary schools played their part in the promotion of ladies football and the role of Moyle Rovers players in that success. There are player profiles on former player Gillian O’Brien and current star Emma Cronin, a look back at the marvellous experience many players had in representing the club in both the Feile and the Community Games and there is a special feature on how Moyle Rovers players have gone on to play for other teams all over the world.

VOLUNTEERS
“This book is a celebration of passion, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of dreams. Each chapter captures the essence of the journey, weaving together the triumphs and tribulations that define Moyle Rovers Ladies Gaelic Football Club. it is a testament to the great volunteers, players and comradeship in the area,” said Marian Power, Club President and founder of the club, at the launch.

Club Chairman Paudie Everard said he hoped the book would encourage more volunteers into the club and continue the work of providing sporting opportunities to young players. “The book is a glance at the journey the club has taken since 1993 and gives recognition to those who helped it on the way. There are many players who have worn the Moyle Rovers jersey and I hope this book rekindles good memories of their playing days,” he said.
The book was sponsored by Clonmel Agricultural Show, Camida, Clonmel Credit Union and Applegreen.
