A local county councillor has raised her concerns with growing anti-social behaviour in a town in Tipperary.

Cllr Ryan Shiner is speaking up after recent incidents in the town were filmed and shared on social media.

Just last month a video of one girl beating another in Tipperary Town went viral on social media, and caused outrage amongst residents in the town.

"I've seen some pretty shocking footage of people fighting in public areas in Tipp Town. Unfortunately these incidents don't seem to be one offs," began Cllr Ryan Shiner.

"I've spoken to An Garda Síochána Tipperary, both the Inspector and the Community Garda, about the need for a swift Garda response and a zero tolerance approach to this kind of intimidating behaviour.

"Tipp Gardai are asking if you see this carry on please phone 999 asap. Don't be afraid to use this number, it leads to quicker response times than ringing the Tipp Town station number.

"The same number can be used if you see people drinking in public spaces and acting the maggot! Gardai have issued a number of ASBO's (anti-social behaviour orders) and have confiscated alcohol from certain individuals and they assure me we they will continue to act on this," she said.

Cllr Ryan Shiner urged that it was really important that locals call 999 and report this type of behaviour as soon as they see it.

"Please use this number, this is the advice from the Gardai. It gets logged on the pulse system and generally leads to a quicker response time.

"Anyone who has footage of the recent incidents please send them to An Garda Siochana or you can message me privately if you prefer.

"I have asked for more patrols in Tipperary Town, but unfortunately, it is the reality that we simply don't have enough Gardai, in our towns and villages.

"It's our town, our amenities and nobody has the right to behave in such an intimidating manner. Please please use the 999 number," she concluded.
