Local fears continue to grow over speeding risks on busy street in a big Tipperary town

Local councillor Louise Morgan Walsh has urged Tipperary County Council to address ongoing speeding issues at Summerhill in Nenagh.

Speaking at a meeting of the council’s Nenagh Municipal District, she warned that the situation is extremely dangerous and expressed concern that a fatal incident could occur.

Cllr Morgan Walsh highlighted that the street carries heavy traffic and is frequently used by local residents as well as schoolchildren.

District Engineer Barry Murphy acknowledged the concerns and said the matter requires attention, adding that the council is currently assessing traffic flow and parking arrangements on Summerhill.

Senior Executive Engineer Kieran Malone noted that a review of speed limits is due to take place, but stressed that any measures introduced by the council would ultimately require enforcement by gardaí.
