Tipperary County Council welcomes your thoughts on exciting new plans for the Templemore demesne area, which feature fresh roads and footpaths designed to enhance the community.

The planning application asks for permission to demolish an unused slaughterhouse building measuring about 111 square meters and to build new roads and footpaths. The plans include a new four-way traffic light junction with crossings for pedestrians and cyclists, replacing the current three-way junction where the N62 (Roscrea Road) meets Oakdale Park.

The project includes a main two-lane road that is 6 meters wide and about 250 meters long with a place to turn around at the end, plus paths for both walkers and cyclists on each side.

Two smaller road junctions with 6-meter-wide roads are planned to facilitate future development in the Templemore demesne area. There will also be a shared path for walkers and cyclists, with two new entrances through the current wall on the west side of the N62 (Roscrea Road).

The project includes a new underground sewage pumping station with a control booth above ground, a paved maintenance road, a main sewage pipe, and a new gravity sewer that connects to the current sewer along the N62 (Roscrea Road). The current rainwater sewer will be closed and redirected to a new sewer that empties into an open drain.

The plans also include new landscaping with both paved and planted areas, as well as upgrades to public spaces. This includes fixing parts of the wall along the Lady's Walk and other work, both above and below ground.

The project will also add new lighting for the area, a new main water pipe, and a new rainwater drainage system with shallow ditches and a holding area for water. A special device will release water into an existing open drain. The project was found unlikely to have major environmental impacts, so a detailed environmental study was not needed.
