Congratulations to Caitlin Tierney, a Fifth Year pupil in the Ursuline Secondary school, Thurles, on winning the Lions Club Young Ambassador Award of the 21st Century.
The preliminary rounds of the competition were held in November, where Caitlin emerged as the winner and represented Thurles Lions club at the National competition in Portlaoise on January 27.
In the final adjudication Caitlin impressed the judges with the range and depth of her project and her community involvement and went on to win the National competition.
She will now represent Ireland at the European finals which will be held in Germany in October 2026.
As part of her prize Caitlin will receive a bursary of 1,000e to further develop her community project.
She will also have the opportunity to do a three week exchange programme in a European country of her choice and will be a guest presenter at the UK finals in February.
