Tipperary County Council will assume responsibility for all expenses, including medical insurance, travel, and accommodation.

Sinead Carr, Chief Executive Officer of Tipperary County Council, Cathaoirleach John Carroll, and Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise, Economic Development, and Tourism, have been invited to visit Maryland, United States, in March, coinciding with the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Maryland, located between New York and Washington, D.C., has a population of 6.2 million.

Tipperary County Council is scheduled to review the invitation at the upcoming plenary meeting on Monday. The invitation was extended by Susan C. Lee, Secretary of State for Maryland.

Ms Lee emphasises the longstanding relationship between Maryland and Ireland, noting their shared heritage, economic connections, and enduring personal relationships. She also references the Carroll family, which played a significant role in Maryland's founding.

During the visit, state officials and the Tipperary delegation are expected to explore collaborative opportunities in higher education, advanced research, quantum technologies, agriculture, horse racing, life sciences, biotechnology, medical innovation, and the expanding bioeconomy.
