The Housing Adaptation Grant for Disabled People in Ireland gives up to €40,000 to help change homes for people with physical, sensory, mental health, or intellectual disabilities. The grant funds many important changes, such as making bathrooms easier to use, installing stair lifts, and building ramps. Whether you can get the grant depends on a test of your house. The grant helps pay for different ways to make homes easier to use.

This can mean adding ramps or new doors, making spaces wider for wheelchairs, building extra rooms, such as a downstairs bedroom, installing showers or toilets that are easier to reach, adding stairlifts or lifts between floors, and installing grab rails or special lifting equipment, such as track hoists.
The grant may also cover additional work if deemed necessary by the local authority to improve the home for a person with a disability.
The grant does not cover Value Added Tax (VAT) on the work, but applicants may qualify for a VAT refund from Revenue for necessary appliances.
Funded by the Local Democracy Scheme
