Comhairle na nóg provides a platform for young people throughout Tipperary
Comhairle na nÓg in Tipperary is calling on Tipperary County Council to back their push to lower the voting age to 16, amplifying the voices of young people in local democracy.

Comhairle na nóg provides a platform for young people throughout Tipperary, with each district championing its own initiatives. Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel is tackling transport and road safety, while Nenagh, Newport, and Borrisokane are driving forward climate action. Thurles-Templemore is working to ease school-related stress. Meanwhile, Clonmel, Cahir, and Carrick-on-Suir are at the forefront of the Vote at 16 campaign. Across the water, the UK government is also moving to lower the voting age to 16 before the next general election.
The new law in the UK will let 16- and 17-year-olds vote and will also change the rules about showing ID to vote, signing up to vote, and giving money to political groups.
Scotland and Wales now allow 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in their local government elections, but Northern Ireland does not.
