Councillor Liam Browne is urging local residents to do their part in keeping the area clean, especially with people walking with dogs.
Browne took to Facebook to praise the work of workers cleaning the local area, but the lack of ‘manpower’ means locals need to do their part in keeping walkways clean.
“Want to give a shout out to the lads for getting the footpath cleaned at the Old Road walkway this morning.. It's an ongoing sore point every Winter.”
“Just to explain to people, the council simply don't have the resources (manpower) to cover the amount of work needing to be done. This is down to public service recruitment policy.”

“And that means they cannot be constantly clearing paths... they can only work with what they have, but they will get round to the work eventually.”
“It's my job to push for more manpower, and I will at council level.”
“However, there is something that you, the public, can help with.”
“If you walk dogs on the footpaths... bring a doggy bag, and clean up the crap after your dog.”
“It won't take 15 seconds to clean. Do it.”
“Have some manners and respect for others.”
