The decision by Tipperary County Council to refuse planning permission for a bio-methane plant near Holycross has been appealed to An Coimisiún Pleanála.

Roadstone’s plan to transform the Killough quarry site sparked strong resistance from the community, with 217 people submitting their concerns to the council.

The Killough Biogas Concern Committee argued that the public meeting about the bio-methane plant felt like a box-ticking exercise, insisting that a real conversation with locals and politicians was needed.

Following the refusal of planning permission, Pat Shanahan from the local group said they expected an appeal and were prepared to pursue a judicial review if required.
