Arrabawn Co-op signs €2m natural gas deal with Vayu

Arrabawn has signed a €2m natural gas deal with Vayu Energy that will cut the co-op's energy bill.

Natural gas is being brought to the town by Bord Gais / Gas Networks Ireland at present with pipe laying ongoing around Nenagh.

The original proposal to bring gas to Nenagh was spearheaded by Arrabawn, among others, and delivered by Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly.

This week's deal will see Vayu Energy Vayu provide Arrabawn Group with direct access to wholesale market prices for natural gas, allowing the group to purchase gas at the best price available in the market – resulting in significant savings in energy costs.

“Our partnership with Vayu is a critical component of our ongoing cost efficiency strategy and will enable us to significantly reduce operating costs by shifting to natural gas as our main fuel source,” said Arrabawn financial controller Mícheál O’Kelly
