Well done to the Emeralds U14s boys who became Michael Cusack Division 3 Féile 2018 champions on Sunday last. They were hosted by Na Piarsaigh in Collinstown, Co Westmeath, who were a a fantastic community and looked after the boys so well. They started on Friday evening by playing two matches. The first match was against Raharney with a score of Emeralds 3-5, Raharney 1-3. Second match they drew against Watergrasshill, Emeralds 3-6, Watergrasshill 2-9. On Saturday morning the decider between cup or shield quarter-final was against the hosts Na Piarsaigh with result Emeralds 3-5, Na Piarsaigh 1-3. They then went onto Ballinasloe for the quarter-final of the cup where they played the favourites to win the division resulting in a score of Emeralds 2-5, Kilmallock 1-4. At Sunday’s semi-final against Kilmaley, score was Emeralds 3-9, Kilmaley 1-3, which was a fantastic start to the morning. The final was against Mount Leinster Rangers in a very gripping game. Emerald 2-9, Mount Leinster 2-8. Congrats boys on a fantastic achievement!
Emeralds GAA will hold a fundraiser in association with Husqvarna as they attempt a Guinness World Record - largest amount of ‘Ride-on Lawnmowers’ to mow a field at same time. Live DJ, live music, family fun day, trade stands, competitions, stalls, BBQ, spot prizes, novelty acts, meet and greet Kilkenny stars, past and present on the day, plus lots more. Free entry for children. Over €15,000 worth of prizes. Saturday August 11, in Urlingford. A contribution will be made to three local charities after the event. Come along and enjoy the fun.
