Golden leaves on the trees as Autumn progresses towards the short winter days, herald the resumption of many extra activities for all in the Parkinson's family. The Annual General meeting of Tipperary Branch will be held in the Anner Hotel, Thurles on Wednesday 24th October 2018 at 1.30 pm.
The Annual General meeting of Parkinson's Association of Ireland is on Thursday 1st November at 5 pm in Carmichael House, Dublin. Chairman of the Tipperary Branch Michael Burke has completed 3 years on the Board of P.A.I. and was the organisations Vice-Chair during this period. Michael is eligible to serve one further 3 year term and is nominated to serve his second term on the Board of P.A.I. We wish him well and the Branch members who are unable to attend the A.G.M. in Dublin are asked to complete and return Proxy Vote to Carmichael House by 29th October.
2018/2019 membership fees are now due, cost is €25 which entitles a member to a quarterly copy of the National magazine. Membership is necessary for the continuous participation in Branch activities. Tipperary Branch has three support groups with Mary Finnegan 086 1224283 facilitator for the Clonmel Group. Thurles is our hard working Secretary Mary Carey 086 3916726, Nenagh is Marion Burke 087 2967296. Local contacts for Roscrea/Templemore is Seamus Loughman on 087 0545349 and Cashel is Mary Kennedy on 087 2104001. Newly diagnosed who require information and perhaps a chat! please contact any of these volunteers all of whom will be delighted to assist you.
Did you know? One in every twenty people diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease is under 40 years of age. Young Parkinson's Ireland is an official Branch and covering the Republic of Ireland.
The next nearest date for your diary with Young Parkinson's is an "Insight Series" information meeting in Cork on Friday November 23rd, (details to follow).
Diary ~Dates.
Monday Club meets in Nenagh Pastoral Centre, Church Rd, Nenagh on all Mondays except bank holidays from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Manageable exercises with Marion Slattery O.T. and Sing Along Choir and Breathing exercises with Sheelagh Chadwick M.D and musicians Brendan Treacy, Rita Gleeson & Mary Shinnors. Afternoon activities is completed with the 3 C's A cuppa, cakes and a chat.
Clonmel support Group meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month in The Manilla Hotel Clonmel from 10 am until 12 noon with guest speakers attending. On Thursday 25th October there will be Yoga Classes in Hotel Manilla from 12 pm until 1 pm.
Thurles Support Group has Guest Speaker Mags Richardson Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist at 3 pm in The Community Hospital of the Assumption in Thurles on Thursday 8th November.
On Friday 14th December Nenagh Support Group have their Annual Ecumenical Remembrance Candle Lighting Ceremony for all who suffered bereavements and for members who are confined and seriously ill. Followed by celebration of life evening with music and song and refreshments. Venue is The Pastoral Centre, Church Rd, Nenagh commencing at 7pm. Invitations are extended to all family & friends.
