New car registrations drop in Tipperary compared to this time last year

Figures from the Irish Motor Industry show there are less new cars on the road

Recent figures from the Irish Motor Industry have reported a 1.32% drop in new car registrations in Tipperary so far in 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. 

1,866 new cars have been registered in Tipperary during the first half of 2024 compared to 1,891 for the same time last year. 

Other statistics include:

  • Grey is the most popular colour for new cars in Ireland.
  • Automatic cars are the most popular form of transmission with 50,956 automatic cars registered compared to 27,889 petrol cars.
  • Petrol cars are the most popular engine type followed by diesel, then petrol electric.
  • Toyota was the most popular make, followed by Volkswagen, Skoda, Hyundai then Kia. 
  • The most popular car overall was the Hyundai Tucson.
