A driver who had no NCT on their car was discovered to be banned from driving for eight years, when stopped by Gardaí.
Members of An Garda Síochána in Gurranabraher in Cork city spotted a car with an expired NCT disc while they were on patrol on Sunday.
A quick check of their records proved that this car had no insurance either, and that the driver had been disqualified from driving for 8 years.
The driver is now facing a court appearance.
Gardaí recently announced advances in technology have made it easier for them to detect people who are driving without insurance.
It was confirmed in recent weeks that automatic number plate recognition technology is now available on a mobile device for gardaí and was described as a "game changer" in terms of catching people who are committing a variety of road traffic violations.
