RIP: Teenager dies in tragic pick-up truck crash in Kildare as gardaí appeal for witnesses

A teenager has died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Kildare on Thursday evening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal crash on Barrettstown Road in Newbridge, Co Kildare yesterday evening, Thursday, June 5.

The collision, involving a pick-up truck, occurred shortly after 8pm.

A male passenger, aged in his late teens, was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination is due to take place and the local Coroner has been informed.

The driver of the vehicle, also a male teenager, was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

“The road remains closed this morning pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place,” gardaí confirmed in a statement.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm to make this footage available to investigating officers.
