One of Tipperary's most celebrated older athletes, Pat Naughton, has died at the age of 92.

A Nenagh native, his athletics career spanned over eight decades.

In 2023, Pat starred in the RTE programme Super Agers, a documentary examining the positive aspects of ageing by observing older people whose physical and mental ability could be considered exceptional for any age.

He has been described as 'exceptional' and 'an inspiration' to sport and athletics across the county.

Just two years ago, following his 90th birthday, Pat was still competing at the National Masters Indoor Athletics Championships.
