He will play Mr Bingley in the upcoming series.

Production is now underway on Pride and Prejudice in the UK.

Pride and Prejudice, one of the most iconic novels of all time, will be turned into a limited-run series, featuring six episodes.

The series will be a faithful, classic adaptation of the novel by Jane Austen.

Jane Austen’s beloved novels have enraptured generations for over 200 years.

Her most famous and widely-read novel, Pride and Prejudice has inspired countless writers and filmmakers.

Its iconic characters, sharp social commentary and timeless love story, continue to delight audiences the world over.

Written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), the series will be a faithful, classic adaptation.

Rufus Sewell will star as the beloved Mr Bennet.

The Bennet sisterhood will feature Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet alongside Heartstopper alumnus Rhea Norwood, as Lydia and newcomers Hollie Avery and Hopey Parish in their debut roles of Kitty and Mary.

Louis Partridge will take on Mr Darcy’s nemesis, Mr Wickham with Jamie Demetriou turning his hand to the pompous Mr Collins and Fiona Shaw as the fearsome Lady Catherine de Bourg.

Speaking earlier in the year about the new series Dolly Alderton (Writer and Executive Producer) said: “Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”

Having previously starred in BBC’s popular period drama ‘Peaky Blinders,’ alongside fellow Irish actors Cillian Murphy and Aidan Gillen, Daryl is also slated to play Cy Draven in the third installment of the ‘Knives Out’ film series, ‘Wake Up Dead Man, alongside Daniel Craig, Jeremy Renner, Glen Close, and fellow Irish actor Andrew Scott, with the film set to release later this year.
