Tipperary clinic has windows replaced for free by local business following break-in

Private Therapy Clinic in Nenagh has had their windows replaced for free by Carey's Glass.

The Nenagh-based clinic has had to replace their windows following a break-in in May of this year.

Speaking on the replacement of the window, a spokesperson for Private Therapy Clinic said: "In an extraordinary act of community spirit, Carey’s Glass has generously donated brand-new glass panels to replace all 20 internal windows shattered during the vandalism of Private Therapy Clinic’s Nenagh premises. They have also provided materials for internal doors, allowing the clinic to remain open where it otherwise might have needed to shut down completely.

This remarkable support has allowed Private Therapy Clinic to continue operating — offering ADHD and autism assessments, talking therapy, psychiatry, and a new autism support group for high-functioning adults, which meets every Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the clinic’s Martyrs Road office."

Dr Becky Spelman, clinical psychologist and founder of Private Therapy Clinic, said: “I was truly moved to tears by the generosity of Carey’s Glass. Without their goodwill, we simply could not have kept the clinic alive. Their support didn’t just restore our windows. It kept a community service functioning — providing care to anyone who can afford anything, even as little as €5.”

Carey’s Glass was founded over two decades ago in Nenagh by Michael Carey, beginning as a small local glass shop.

Over the years, it has grown into a respected regional business known for high-quality craftsmanship and local involvement.

The company’s leadership, rooted in Nenagh, saw the clinic’s struggle and responded swiftly and graciously to support mental health care in the community.

“It’s incredible that a business which has worked so hard to become the success it is today would support a new local social enterprise,” added Dr Spelman.

“We are all deeply proud of what they have achieved—and even prouder of how they’ve used that success to help others.”

Since opening in March, Private Therapy Clinic Ireland has already served 100 clients, many of whom would have faced long waits in public systems.

The clinic offers same-week appointments and keeps costs as low as possible to ensure care is accessible to all.

“We wouldn’t have been able to stay open without Carey’s Glass,” said Dr Spelman. “Their kindness has truly sustained us. We remain committed to supporting people’s mental health — and are eternally grateful to have such caring neighbours in our community.”
