The study undertaken by Baldwin Digital used data from the Central Statistics Office on enterprises with under 50 employees in 26 of Ireland’s counties.
Each county was ranked based on the number of small or medium sized enterprises (SME's) per 10,000 people, the percentage of SMEs in relation to all businesses, and the percentage difference in SMEs from 2019 to 2021.
Wicklow came out on top while Donegal took second place in the study.
Tipperary came third with a total of 2,014 small or medium sized businesses per 10,000 people.
