Tipperary boxer suffers first defeat of her professional career

Shauna Browne is looking to the future after losing her first fight as a professional boxer

There was disappointment for Clonmel boxer Shauna Browne when she suffered the first defeat of her professional career on Saturday night.

Browne was caught with a sucker punch by Turkish fighter Elif Nur Turhan in just the first round of the bout at the SSE Arena in Belfast.

The Clonmel woman got back to her feet after being knocked down, but the referee soon called a halt to the action and the bout ended after less than a minute.

Elif Nur Turhan has now won all ten of her professional contests.

Although defeat in this WBC eliminator is a setback for Browne, there is surely much more to come from the talented 30-year-old "Carrigeen Queen", who is based in Essex.
