Ballyhoura Active

It has been yet another fantastic week in sport as Munster and Leinster drive closer and closer towards the European cup final. The Football and Hurling were also fabulous games with the semi-finals in the Hurling and the Football final.

But in running the Munster roads was held in Castlelyons in County Cork, this was held yesterday, and to be fair looked like that it wouldn’t go ahead as another weather warning seemed set to spoil another weekend of racing. But it was beautifully calm and only slightly damp on a great route over 4 miles as some of the best runners in Munster toed the line, and a new group of champions were born across loads of different categories. Sean McGrath from East Cork AC was the overall winner in the men’s race and Jessica Coyne of Dooneen AC was first lady home.

With only a couple of weeks to the start of the Ballyhoura Active series I am sure you will all be in great fettle. We put up a video of the race route from the Country Club on the old Cratloe road. This is the first time that this route has been used in the series so we are hoping for big crowds on these quite country roads on the 27th of April at 7pm. This is the Michael Rejmer memorial race and friends and club mates of Michael will be out in force on the night. This race is very easy to find as it can be accessed from the L.I.T roundabout just past Thomond park, or off the Ennis road at the Two Mile inn roundabout. All directions will be on the Webpage and on the Dooneen AC Facebook closer to the day.
