Roscrea Library has announced a varied and creative programme of events for February, with something on offer for art lovers, young builders, chess enthusiasts and crafty kids.

The highlight of the month is a new art exhibition by Lithuanian artist Gitare Bendaraviciene, who has been living in Ireland since 2010. Her exhibition, Story in Colours, will be on display throughout February in the library. Visitors are invited to drop in and enjoy the collection, which showcases her vibrant and expressive work.

Young creators can look forward to the library’s popular LEGO Free Play sessions, held on the first Wednesday of every month from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. The sessions are open to children aged seven and over. Parents or guardians must accompany children and remain in the library for the duration of the activity.

Chess fans are also catered for with weekly chess meet-ups every Friday from 3pm to 4pm. These are informal sessions rather than lessons, giving players aged seven and up a chance to meet others and enjoy a game or two. As with children’s events, a parent or guardian must stay in the library during the session.

A special Valentine Craft Session will take place on Wednesday, 11 February at 3.30pm. Suitable for children aged six and older, the workshop offers a chance to make themed crafts. Booking is essential due to limited places.
