The first Tipperary school has confirmed a Tuesday closure following the snowstorm over the weekend and sub-zero temperatures on Monday which are expected to last all the way to Thursday.
In a statement, Presentation Ballingarry Secondary School said: "Following an inspection of the school grounds and keeping in mind the safety of all travelling to Presentation Ballingarry under current weather warnings, a decision has been made to close the school tomorrow, Tuesday, 7th January. Further updates will be issued. Stay safe."
Other schools understood to be closed are CBS High School Clonmel, Cashel Community School, St Ailbe's in Tipperary Town, St Joseph's Borrisoleigh and CBS Thurles.
