There was a great gathering in Brosnan’s Pub, Cashel on Friday, February 10 to celebrate the achievement of the players of Larkspur Putt Club.
Celly Ryan was presented with the Covid-delayed player of the year for 2021, Gráinne Shelley received the player of the year for 2022.
Grainne Shelley and Derek Shelley became the seventh pairing in history to win the National Mixed Foursomes (now the National Mixed Scotch Foursomes) over their home course when the Larkspur Park couple scored 96 points around the superb Cashel course on October 1, 2022.
George Goodman and Alan Hogan won their own National Foursomes title in Larkspur the same weekend.
Grainne and Derek were part of the All-Ireland Foursomes championship team along with George Goodman and Alan Hogan.
Retiring Club Captain of 11 years Shane Hoare, congratulated all the winners and thanked everyone for a wonderful year of Pitch and Putt. He emphasised the importance of team work, camaraderie and the friendly spirit that pertains in the Pitch and Putt club, and he looked forward to more trophies and days of excellent competition in 2023.
