Isobel Minogue and Edel Roche were amongst the Fethard AC contingent at John Treacy 10 Mile Road Race in Dungarvan on Sunday last
All roads led Fethard AC to Dungarvan on Sunday last, February 4 for the 32nd Annual John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road race. This race always sells out very quickly and this year was no different with a huge entry received from all parts of the country and beyond. The event is the largest 10 mile road race in the country.
This huge entry and great atmosphere make it a great race and a great day for West Waterford AC committee, its members and rewards the trojan work of the many volunteers as they welcome thousands to the seaside town annually.
With an 11 am start the buzz around the starting line was palpable. Fethard Athletic Club had five senior athletes taking part.
Our first athlete home was Edel Roche who found it tough with a strong wind to contend with in the first few miles but Edel soon settled into her race and finished in a time of 1:08:23.
Kevin O’Meara was happy to get around given the amount of injuries he has had this past year and was delighted with his time of 1:17:44.
MJ Croke found it was a lovely run, he looked very comfortable throughout and it was a great start to the new year with his time of 1:19:21.
Isobel Minogue, making her club debut in 1:32:12, thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Victor Direen was another athlete making his Fethard AC debut on the road and back in the club after a few years hiatus, he came in with a time of 1:36:11. It was super to see Vic at his first road race in four years. His last one was The Kilsheelan 10 miler in 2020.
