County Tipperary Ladies on Tour! Great turnout for Away Day at Portarlington GC

Tuesday Mornng Scramble
Our Tuesday morning scramble was won by Pauline Treacy, Kitty Byrne, Mary Knightly & Kay Crowe.

Our 9-hole qualifier last Wednesday May 29 was won by 1st Elizabeth Hayes (37.3) 21pts. 2nd Maura Crosse (42.6) 19pts. Gross Marie Horgan (19.2) 9 Gross pts.

Our Thursday evening was also a 9-hole qualifier and was won by 1st Laura Hickey (30.2) 25pts, 2nd Rosemary Shanahan (36.0) 21 pts, Gross Caroline Maher (14.1) 12 gross pts.

Our Lady Captain Mary O’Donnell’s away day was held last Sunday June 2nd in Portarlington. 50 lady members travelled up on the day to play the lovely parkland course and we were blessed with glorious sunshine.

The winners on the day were; 1st Jenny Lawrence with a fantastic score of 43pts. 2nd Niamh Chadwick 39pts C/B 3rd Catherine O’Halloran 39pts. 4th Kitty Byrne 36pts.Front 9 Maura Crosse, back 9 Vera Heffernan. Nearest to pin Isobel Hayes. Longest drive Niamh Chadwick.

Next week we have a 9-hole qualifier on Wednesday June 5 and our very popular mixed scramble will be on Thursday evening June 6th Kindly sponsored by Coolmore.
Our inter club competitions continues with our Team playing a Munster Women’s Trophy Competition next Sunday June 9th against Lee Valley. Playing in Lee Valley we have Sheena Ryan, Maura O’Neill & Margaret O’Connell & In Dundrum Margaret O’Riordan & Jenny Lawrence. Tee Time is 2.30. Wishing the Team and Managers (Katleen O’Neill & Jenny Lawrence) the best of luck.
Our medal competitions for June are the 3Ts Sunday June 9 & Wednesday June 12. The Claret Jug is on Sunday June 23 & Wednesday June 26.

Men’s Golf
Our Bruen Team played against Tipperary Golf Club in Tipperary on Sunday, despite an excellent performance we came off second best.
The County Tipperary team members were; Pat Ryan & Seamus O’Dwyer, Aiden Murphy & Darragh Stapleton, Brian Everard & Kevin McCarthy, Brian Slattery & Paddy Ryan, Subs Sean Carrol & David Downey. Managers Colm Taylor & Sean Carroll.

Seniors Golf
The results of last week’s Champagne Scramble; in 1st place John Grogan, Tom Kennedy, & Charlie Gaffney 46.7, in 2nd place Gerry Maher, Pat Ryan (Golden), Tommy Moloney & Tom O’Donnell 47.2 and in 3rd place P J Collins, Tommy Landers, Seamus King & Johnny Hannigan 50.6.

Scratch Cups
The Scratch Cup competitions had an excellent turn out with good support from outside clubs on Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
The Friday Open Singles results; in 1st place Thomas Crosse Co Tipperary Golf & Country Club with 38pts, in 2nd place Sean Kinane Co Tipperary Golf & Country Club with 36pts and in 3rd place Conor Moore Co Tipperary Golf & Country Club with a 32pts.
