Carrick-on-Suir Rugby Club’s first ever senior women’s team played their first competitive match this week

Carrick-on-Suir Rugby Club's first ever senior women's team made history last Sunday by playing their first competitive match against Fermoy RFC at their home playing grounds at Tybroughney.

The game was the first round of the Munster Women's Division 1 League. It was a thrilling match from start to finish. 

Carrick RFC, who were captained by former Irish international Kate O'Loughlin, were denied the win in the last moments of the game when Fermoy scored a  try. 

Final score was Carrick 13, Fermoy 17. Carrick RFC's Women's Officer Kathleen Fleming said the talent shown by the Carrick senior women in their competitive first game indicates the Club can expect great things from them in the future. She extended best wishes to Kate McGrath for a speedy recovery. 

The team is coached by Sean Fitzpatrick, managed by Caoimhe Wall and Sinead Doyle providing First Aid
