Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works Kieran O’Donnell has announced €181,000 in additional funding for flood mitigation works in Templemore.
The funding brings the total OPW investment to €279,100 for the project at Blackcastle Road.
The project includes the construction of an additional six-metre culvert beside an existing bridge.
Tipperary County Council also intend to raise the road as well as widening an existing channel.
The new funding was approved under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works & Coastal Protection Scheme.
Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill has today welcomed the funding.
He said:
“I’m pleased to confirm that Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kieran O’Donnell, has today signed off on funding of €181,000 for this flood relief project in Templemore.
“This funding will go towards Tipperary County Council’s minor flood mitigation project on Blackcastle Road.
"These works, once completed, should go a long way towards reducing flooding issues in the local area.
“I’d like to thank my colleague in Government, Minister O’Donnell, for working with me on this and signing off on this project funding this morning.”
