An intoxicated man told a garda he would “put him through” the window of the patrol car, Nenagh District Court has heard.

Joseph Donoghue (43) of 17 Railway View Templemore, was charged with threatening abusive behaviour and intoxication in a public place in Glenaguile Toomevara on May 19, 2022.

The court was told that on the day of the incident, Garda Stephen O’Halloran observed an intoxicated male walking toward Templemore.

The guard stopped the man who became abusive, telling Garda O’Halloran to “f*ck off.”

Garda O’Halloran arrested the defendant, who then told the guard he would “put him through” the window of the patrol car.
The court was told the defendant had 96 previous convictions, including for public order offences.

Judge Fiona Brennan fined the defendant €150 for public intoxication and a further €400 for the charge of threatening and abusive behaviour.
