Park Run Templemore
Coincidences of coincidences, Run 62 attracted precisely that number on a breezy, cold Saturday. Director John Guilfoyle was a busy man presenting Certificates of Merit to Thomas Callanan - his 50th event, and Johnny McInerney - Special Achievement, before setting the field on their way.
Less than 18 minutes later he had Tom Lupton 17.38 and newcomer Derrick Leahy 17.40 producing a thrilling finish with quality performances. He felt he was going to need Hawkeye at one point but let his own eyes decide. Nobody disputed his decision in any event !!!
Noel McGrath, still affected by a hand injury, returned a fine 19.01 for third place. Paddy Bowe got home in 19.56 with Larry Stapleton, very much on the comeback trail stopping the watch at 20.50. Laura Carey 23.44 was leading lady closely followed by Sharon Kiely 24.11 and Jacqueline Forkin 24.54.
On the day there were 15 first timers with 9 PB's recorded. This brings to 685 the number of different people who have competed in the 62 runs with 809 PB's and a grand total of 17,305 kilometres travelled.
