ALERT: Drivers warned of upcoming road closure on busy Tipperary road

Tipperary County Council intend to close part of the M8 at Horse and Jockey

A section of a major road through Tipperary is set to be closed next month.

That's according to Tipperary County Council who have given advanced notice of their intention to close a section of the M8 motorway at Horse and Jockey.

Junction 6 Northbound will be the section impacted, with the local authority saying that the road will be closed at night to minimise disruption.

The closure will be in effect on Thursday, April 10, and again on Wednesday, April 16 until Friday, April 18.

The road will be closed from 7pm to 5am each night.

The closure is to facilitate "ITS works at the VMS gantry," Tipperary County Council stated.

Motorists are advised that an alternative route will be available for anyone travelling at the time when the closure is in place.

Drivers can exit the M8 at Junction 6, Horse and Jockey, turn left in Horse and Jockey on the R639, Follow the R639 through Littleton, Ballyshane and Urlingford, turn left onto the R693 after Urlingford and re-join the M8 in junction 4, the Council said.
