An allocation of €22,290 has been awarded to Cabragh Wetlands, a locally treasured area just outside Thurles, that provides a sanctuary for a vast collection of plant and animal species.
The protection and ongoing restoration of this area of natural beauty are of huge importance to local people, who work tirelessly to ensure the preservation of this beautiful natural habitat.

This funding has been allocated under the Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme for the Practical Responses to Climate Change.
Nationally, Minister for Housing, Heritage and Local Government James Browne TD and Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O’Sullivan TD have today announced €800,000 in funding under the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2025.

This year the Scheme will support forty-five community groups with their conservation work in seventeen counties around the country.
