The National Biogas Concern Group Ireland (NBCG) gathered at the Dáil today, June 6, where representatives from Killough Biogas Concern Group and Ballymackey Biogas Concern Group in Tipperary, among others from across the country have been protesting against the "the imposition of industrial biogas plants in areas that are environmentally unsuitable and lacking the infrastructure to safely accommodate such developments, particularly in terms of traffic and rural road capacity."
The national alliance of these groups "fosters solidarity and coordination among groups across the country who are working together to raise awareness, share resources, and advocate for responsible planning that respects the health, safety, and sustainability of local environments."

The group staged a protest outside Leinster House from 12-2pm on Wednesday, where they are advocating for "a national biogas strategy that puts people and the environment first."
From 2-6pm, the NBCG have been hosting a drop-in session in the Trinity Suite of Buswells Hotel with presentations from group members beginning at 2.15pm. This is an opportunity for elected representatives and interested parties to meet the group and ask questions.
Following significant protest action from the Killough Biogas Concern Group earlier in the year, the submission by Roadstone Ltd for a large “anaerobic digestor” at Killough Quarry has since been put on hold with the council seeking further information from Roadstone Ltd.
The groups hoped to meet with Tipperary TDs this afternoon.
