A motorist in Tipperary Town had their car seized after the Garda Roads Policing Unit officers discovered they were not only driving while "scrolling on social media", but also without a valid licence or insurance.

Gardaí on patrol in the town stopped the vehicle on Wednesday after noticing the driver was visibly distracted while using their phone.
Further checks revealed the motorist did not hold a licence, let alone insurance.

The car was seized on the spot and Gardaí confirmed that proceedings have commenced.
Gardaí are reminding drivers that distracted driving is a major safety risk and that uninsured and unlicensed drivers face serious consequences.
