LATEST: Uisce Éireann issue major update regarding restoration of Tipperary water supply

Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to almost 500 homes and businesses in Tipperary Town after operational issues caused low reservoir levels at Cordangan Reservoir.

Customers in Cashel Road, Pearse Park, St Michaels Avenue, Connery Park, Rossmore Village, Tipperary Town and the surrounding areas may experience an interruption to supply as a result.

It is estimated that the supply will be restored by 9am on Wednesday, 8 October.

Alternative water supplies will be available at Tipperary Town Graveyard and Rossmore Village Housing Estate from 4pm today.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We understand the inconvenience that unplanned outages can have. Crews have been mobilised since early this morning and we are working to complete this work as quickly as possible.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
