Anne Marie Ryan stated that she has received reports indicating that individuals in the town and surrounding areas are breeding birds specifically for illegal fighting.

A local councillor has raised concerns about ongoing cockfighting near Tipperary Town and is calling for quick action to stop these cruel events.

Anne Marie Ryan stated that she has received reports indicating that individuals in the town and surrounding areas are breeding birds specifically for illegal fighting.

She raised the issue at the Tipp-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District meeting, calling on the local council to intervene and halt these illegal gatherings.

Councillor Ryan said she got reports from residents about several places where fighting birds are being raised.

She intends to reach out to the Gardai and animal welfare organisations, rallying their support to tackle the problem head-on.
