Gardaí in Tipperary Town conducted a multi-agency operation in conjunction with the Tipperary County Council, NSPCA (National Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals), NPWS (National Parks and Wildlife Service), Deptartment of Agriculture, Food and the Marine on Monday 30 March 2026 as part of ongoing investigations into suspected animal welfare incidents in Tipperary Town.
A premises was searched where illegal "cock fighting” events allegedly took place. A large number of bird cages were recovered at the residence, along with further evidence of cock fighting and a vast array of controlled medication, steroids, antibiotics and imported illegal substances.

All seized items will be subject to further forensic and technical analysis.
No animals were recovered at the premises.
No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing and Gardaí continue to liaise with the Department of Agriculture regarding this matter.
