I was invited to Circle of Friends in Tipp Town on Friday December 2nd for the presentation of a cheque to the Irish Cancer Society.

On every Friday there is a Coffee Morning and everyone is welcome to attend, particularly those who are affected in any way by cancer, either personally or through family members.

On Friday last the centre was handing over the proceeds of the Big Pink Breakfast, which was held on Friday, October 28.

The proceeds raised from the event came to €2,230 and the centre Manager, Kay Hogan, was joined by helpers and friends for the presentation ceremony.

Kay expressed her thanks to everyone that supported the event and she said that the funds raised were being handed over to the Irish Cancer Society.

After the presentation Kay showed me some of the items that are handmade in the centre and these included a number of Christmas logs that were on display there.

She also showed me a throw that had been crocheted by Maureen McDermott from Kilfinane and which was donated to the centre.

Also taking place during the morning was a visit from Timmy White, who is well-known from the Knockanrawley Organic Garden, to have his moustache shaved off.

Kay Hogan was on hand with the razor to do the honours, part of the November Movember Challenge in aid of Circle of Friends.

Timmy is a regular caller to Circle of Friends and he was delighted to participate in the challenge.

He thanked all those who supported him and said that all donations received will go to Circle of Friends.

Circle of Friends is a volunteer-run cancer support centre for the community of Tipperary and its surrounding villages and towns.

They offer one-to-one specialist services such as professional counselling or reflexology, as well as group classes and activities that include coffee mornings, meditation mornings and evenings, photography group, and much more.
