BREAKING: Dead mouse and droppings found as part of popular Tipperary pub forced to close

This closure is one of 14 across Ireland last month

Dead mouse and droppings found as part of popular Tipperary pub forced to close in November

Part of a popular Tipperary pub was forced to close last month as an inspection by the HSE found a dead mouse as well as "numerous" rodent droppings that were found on the premises.

A closure order was issued for the storage room and back bar area of The Bridge House pub located on Persse's-Lot in Golden, county Tipperary on November 19, 2025, to the occupants Seán and Catherine O'Halloran.

The inspector from the HSE stated that the closure order was issued as there is "likely to be a grave or immediate danger to public health at, in or on the said premises".

Legislation states that a food business must permit good food hygiene practices, including protection against contamination, and in particular "pest control".

Non-compliance was found by the inspecting officer as stated in the report:

  • Numerous rodent droppings were found within the storage room
  • Evidence of rodent droppings and a mouse carcass were noted in the back bar area

The closure order for The Bridge House pub was subsequently lifted on November 20, 2025.
