In light of the current weather conditions and hazardous driving risks, Rockwell College will remain closed on Monday "in the interest of safety".

Cashel Community School has also confirmed it will not be re-opening on Monday due to the severe weather conditions.

The news comes after Presentation Ballingarry secondary school and Presentation Secondary School Thurles all issued statements over the weekend saying they would not be opening due to the snowfall.

The school's statement added: "Overseas boarders will be accommodated in the residence.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the Christmas break when it’s safe to do so.

"Please stay safe and keep an eye on our social media channels for updates tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding."
