The Met Éireann weather forecast for this weekend looks like quite a mixed bag, with plenty of rain but also some outbreaks of sunshine across the country.

Temperatures also look set to dip over the coming days in comparison to the warm days we enjoyed in May. However, Met Éireann's forecast predicts a return to the higher temperatures at the start of next week with more changeable weather anticipated.

Here is how the forecast is shaping up for the coming days.

Friday night will be cloudy with rain spreading from the southwest, some more heavy bursts are possible particularly in Munster and south Leinster. Lowest temperatures will dip between 6 and 10 degrees.

Saturday will be off to a wet start with rain gradually clearing eastwards and giving way to some sunny spells. More showers will eventually follow and become largely confined to the east by the evening. Highest temperatures will reach between 11 and 15 degrees.

Saturday night will be mostly dry, although some showers will move in from the Atlantic later in the night which will impact western and northwestern counties. It will be a colder night with lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees.

Sunday will be a slightly drier day with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers. It will be generally cloudier in the west and southwest. Highest temperatures will range between 13 and 17 degrees.

Sunday night will be cloudy with some scattered showers mostly in the west and north. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

Monday will be cloudy with some drizzle in parts of the country. Southern counties will enjoy most of the sunny spells. More rain will develop later in the day in parts of Ulster and Connacht. It will be a warmer day on Monday with temperatures reaching between 13 and 18 degrees.

For now, Met Éireann predicts that Tuesday will be a cloudier day with brighter and sunnier conditions in the south. Warmer and more humid temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees are also expected to return.
