Tipperary will proudly host two Alzheimer’s Memory Walk events this year as part of the nationwide Alzheimer’s Memory Walk supported by Aviva, taking place on Sunday, September 21 2025, in honour of World Alzheimer’s Day.

The Tipperary events will be held in Fethard Town Park and Nenagh, bringing together families, friends, and communities to walk in solidarity with the 64,000 people living with dementia in Ireland—and to remember those who are no longer with us.

Now in its sixth year, the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk supported by Aviva is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of connection, compassion, and community.

In 2024, nearly 3,500 walkers nationwide raised over €150,000 to support vital services including Daycare, Support Groups, Family Carer Training, Social Clubs, Memory Cafés, and the ASI National Helpline.

Local Champion Sandra Power will lead the Fethard Town Park Memory Walk, inviting the community to gather at the front door of the sports complex before the walk begins at 11am.

“The Fethard Town Park Alzheimer's Memory Walk supported by Aviva will start at 11am on Sunday, September 21 which also marks World Alzheimer's Day,” said Sandra Power.

“We will be walking a 5km route together and it is set to be a brilliant day to walk with and for loved ones living with dementia and to remember those who are sadly no longer with us. All ages are welcome so make it a family morning out and please join me on September 21 in Fethard Town Park.”

In Nenagh, Jennifer Woods will lead the Memory Walk, with participants meeting outside Costa Coffee at Stream Business Centre at 11am.

“I am really looking forward to this year’s Nenagh Memory Walk which takes place on Sunday September 21 which is World Alzheimer’s Day,” said Jennifer Woods.

“People around the world will come together in support of those living with dementia and their loved ones and here in Nenagh we will walk together. Memory Walk is a chance to share memories and create new ones together and is such a lovely event for everyone who attends.

"I would encourage everyone who can to register now at www.memorywalk.ie to join me this World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21. It is also a good time to highlight some of the local support services we offer including the monthly Support Group at The Library on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:00 to 12:30, while the Dementia Café at Silver Arch welcomes visitors on the first Thursday of each month from 11:00 to 13:00—both offering connection, guidance, and community for those affected.”

With nearly 40 events taking place across Ireland, the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk supported by Aviva is a powerful reminder of the strength found in community. Whether you walk in memory of a loved one, in support of someone living with dementia, or simply to show solidarity, your support makes a difference.
