Virgin Media Television has announced the launch of Cleaning Up Ireland, a new eight‑part series that goes behind the scenes with the country’s unsung heroes of hygiene.
From scrubbing toilets and clearing drains to tackling illegal dumping and chasing down rodents, Cleaning Up Ireland lifts the lid on the essential yet often unseen work that keeps the country moving.
Across eight episodes, the series joins Dublin City Council’s street cleaners as they take on illegal dumping, overflowing bins and rowdy night‑time crowds.
It follows the specialist clean‑up crews who sweep in after the country’s biggest events including the Galway Races, the All‑Ireland Hurling Final and major concerts at the 3Arena by restoring venues to order before the next wave of visitors arrives.
Away from the big public clean‑ups, Cleaning Up Ireland also shines a light on small, female‑led businesses transforming homes overwhelmed by pets, clutter and chaos.
From extreme deep‑cleans to home‑rescue missions, these teams bring heart and hard graft to every challenge.
Tipperary’s Ryans Cleaning are among the list of cleaning companies that will feature on the series.
A family‑run Tipperary company with decades of experience, Ryans Cleaning delivers large‑scale event clean‑ups across Ireland and the UK, from Croke Park to the Galway Races.
The series also joins enthusiastic pest controllers on the road as they battle rodents and unwanted critters, and steps into the growing world of online “cleanfluencers”, who have turned cleaning into a digital phenomenon.
Funny, filthy and full of heart, Cleaning Up Ireland shines a light on the pride, grit and unwavering commitment of the people who clean up after the rest of us – one mess at a time.
Cleaning Up Ireland is produced by Appetite Media for Virgin Media and made with the support of Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound and Vision Scheme.
Cleaning Up Ireland premieres Sunday, February 22 at 8:30pm on Virgin Media PLAY and Virgin Media One.
