1916 leader's violin to be presented in Tipperary

Joseph Mary Plunkett was a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation

On Friday  next, April 27, the Third Tipperary Brigade Old IRA commemoration committee will hold a presentation function in the Porter House, Tipperary town (opposite Lidl).

Its purpose is to re-present the violin of Joseph Mary Plunkett, poet, patriot, signatory of the 1916 proclamation and member of the provisional government. He was executed in Kilmainham Jail on  May 4, 1916, hours after he married Grace Gifford.

The committee has had the instrument fully restored and it offers its sincere appreciation and thanks to Ms. Maureen Whyte, the owner, for entrusting it to our care.

Light refreshments will be available after the function. Fáilte roimh cách.
